Sandra Ward for Cecil County

I am the only true conservative running in District 1 for Cecil County Council. While my opponent and I both have Republican written beside our names, there are differences. Two years ago, I was elected to serve on the Cecil County Republican Central Committee. Since then, I have been serving as secretary and working with the central committee to get true conservative Republicans into elected office. I understand how RINOs can hurt our community. I am a lifelong Republican and support lower taxes. In contrast, my opponent voted to raise your taxes in 2017, 2019, and again in 2020. Not only did he vote for tax increases, but he also supported massive tax breaks for warehouses and that includes Southfields. This put the tax burden on hard-working citizens and their families.
I understand hard work and the sacrifice required to raise a family. My husband and I moved here over 30 years ago and built our 10 acre homestead. It’s distressing to see warehouses springing up all over Cecil County. If we keep allowing this rapid growth, our quality of life here will disappear. I have a long- term view of the future. Our community deserves the preservation of our rural environment and our precious farmlands. And we want a safe community. I support our law enforcement and first responders.

I also support our veterans. My dad was a middle-class, hard-working house painter and a veteran. He was a paratrooper during the Korean War. He taught me the value of hard work, saving money, and paying off debts. He taught me to love God, this country, and to value education. I attended public school and then the University of DE where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  I am also a student of the US and Maryland Constitutions and will fight to protect our constitutional rights and freedoms. I have defended our healthcare rights for informed consent, parental rights, and religious freedom. As a result, I’ve been endorsed by Stand for Health Freedom. In addition I am the only candidate who has been endorsed by Dan Cox.
My opponent has often stated that he is “middle-of-the-road.” What does that mean in politics? Those that say they are in the “middle” may be afraid of taking a position; they are easily swayed by one side or the other. Their position is not based on principle or studying the issue. But is based on fear. Is this the type of leadership we desire? This is short-sighted. I will stand firm on principle and be resolute on my convictions to defend our rights and freedoms.

In summary, my opponent says he is a Republican,  yet he voted for tax increases. I am a conservative Republican and support lower taxes. Increased taxes hurt retirees and others on fixed incomes. We need to protect all of our citizens from the tax and spend mentality. I want less government involvement and more fiscal responsibility. I support our law enforcement and first responders. I will fight for our constitutional rights.  I will  listen to your concerns and be your voice as your next county council representative.
